Lewis honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
reat news to kick off National Social Work Month – our Nina Lewis was chosen a lifetime achievement award winner by the National Association of Social Work.
Lewis has been a social work leader for more than 25 years. She has worked in behavioral health, higher education and clinical social work. She’s currently our multi-systems director, which means she integrates the county’s trauma-response system of care reform with partnerships to serve youth with complex needs.
She’s a member of the statewide workgroup for OhioRISE, a specialized Medicaid managed care plan. She formerly led the social work program at Union Institute & University and led the successful CSWE accreditation process. She also managed the women’s substance use treatment program and facilitated intensive training seminars on cross-cultural practice at the University of Cincinnati’s psychiatry department.
She has served on many boards and coalitions, including for the Ohio Justice & Policy Center. She earned two master’s degrees as well as her Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies and public policy/social change.
The NASW highlighted Lewis’ “commitment to excellence, through ongoing learning as a student, clinician, and teacher, creative problem solving within complex systems, and through her pursuit of social justice.”
