Wear Blue Month: How Can You Help?

Thank you for visiting HCKIDS to find out how you can help the families and children of this community. We need you! First, please wear blue on April 12 to help us draw attention to child abuse – break out your blue jeans, blue skirts, blue suits, blue ties, blue dresses and blue hats for a good cause.  But more importantly, we need your help in more tangible ways:

Report Abuse: report child abuse immediately by calling our 241-KIDS child abuse reporting hotline.

Mentor a Parent: Know a parent who is overwhelmed? Can you step in and help? Provide a kind word of advice. Give them a break for a day. Point them to the right resources.

Mentor a child: Our Higher Education Mentoring Initiative, helps foster children graduate high school and move on to higher learning opportunities. Contact HEMI if you are interested in mentoring.

Become a Foster Parent: We especially need help for teens, children with special needs and large sibling sets. Click here to learn more about foster parenting.

Respite Care: We need people to provide our foster parents with a break and take in a child for a day or a weekend. Click here for more information.

Train to be a CASA or Guardian ad Litem: Be there to ensure a child’s best interests are represented in court cases. You can learn more at ProKids or by contacting the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office.

Adopt: We have pictures, biographies and videos throughout this site of children who are available for adoption. Please click here to learn more about adopting.

Donate to the FAMILY Fund: Help with a foster child’s college visit, fees for extracurricular activities and school field trips, gift cards to buy household necessities or a host of other costs that many families take for granted, but are luxuries to foster children and others in need. Donate here.
