Tamika makes three (kids)

This is another in our series of profiles introducing you to the families that will adopt during our Adoption Day ceremony Nov. 17.

With a shared background in health care, Chris and Kate Fields accepted the call to be foster parents to children with health issues, many straight from neonatal intensive care.
In November of 2015, Tamika came to their home from the hospital. In November 2017, she officially joins the family permanently during Hamilton County’s National Adoption Day ceremony.

She joins big sister Evelyn, 8, and big brother Maximus, 5.

“Tamika’s best friend is my daughter, Evelyn,” Kate said. I think she loves her more than me. And she loves Tamika. When I go to wake them up in the morning, Evelyn has usually already started getting her ready.”

Tamika was premature and faced a lot of medical challenges. Her twin sister did not make it. “She is the most strong-willed person I have ever taken care of,” Kate said. “I believe her will is why she is still alive.”

If you are trying to get her to play and she’s not into it, she will cross her arms and frown. “But if you ignore her, she’ll end up in your lap,” Kate said.

“She is adorable, funny and she loves music and dance. She is doing very well.”
