Every child needs a family. At Hamilton County Job and Family Services, finding families for our children in foster care is one of the most important things we do. But as you can imagine, finding families that are the right fit for our kids isn’t easy.
Our kids deserve the best recruitment we can give them. Ultimately, many families tell us that when they met their future child for the first time, they knew that they were meant to be together. But getting to that point can be difficult.
That’s why we try to use as many tools at as possible to connect children with families. We’ve designed the new HCKids.org with that goal in mind.
One of the first things you will notice is a new bolder and brighter design. We have included tons of new pictures – many taken by volunteer professional photographers – so that each kid’s personality gets a chance to shine through.
Each child also has their own page. Many of those pages include videos – the child’s chance to tell you what they are looking for in a family. We are also making a renewed commitment to creating a description of each child that highlights their best features, is unique to each child and honest about who they really are.
In addition to the information about the kids, the new site will also boast information about upcoming opportunities to meet the kids. We’ve also added a blog – designed to help you learn about foster care and adoption and keep you in the loop. We hope that even if you aren’t ready to make a commitment to one of our kids yet, you will use these resources to learn more about what we do and help spread the word.
Of course the new site also means upgrades in technology. One of the biggest improvements in the new site is the addition of a new mobile site. According a May 2013 Pew Internet survey, 63 percent of adults used their cell phones to go online and 34 percent of internet users go online mostly using their phones. The new website will allow us to reach those audiences in a way that was never possible before and will allow you to connect with us on whichever platform is most comfortable for you.
